Scholarships for Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics

BRENTWOOD COMMUNITY FOUNDATION ALMA JUANITA JONES APPLIED SCIENCES EXCELLENCE AWARD

One award of $2,500 will be given to a recent high school graduate, undergraduate or graduate student to pursue a degree in the field of mathematics or sciences. The recipient must be enrolled in an accredited college or university with a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester. Each student will receive $1,250 for the first semester and based on submission of a progress report by the student after the first semester, the remaining $1,250 scholarship balance will be awarded. Requirements: 2.8 GPA on a 4.0 scale. This award was created and funded by David Fitzgerald Jones in honor of his mother to recognize outstanding students for their early achievements and dedication toward the study of sciences.

BRENTWOOD COMMUNITY FOUNDATION F. FRANCES JOHNSON STEM SCHOLARSHIP

Two $2,500 scholarship will be awarded to two 2023 high school graduates or continuing college undergraduate pursuing a bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics at an accredited four year university. Requirements: 3.0 GPA for high school graduates, 2.75 GPA for continuing college undergraduates; enrolled as a full-time student. This scholarship was created in memory of Dr. F. Frances Johnson to support the pursuit of STEM education and careers, Funded by William & Jackie Minter.

BRENTWOOD COMMUNITY FOUNDATION HERRINGTON LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP

The one-time $3,000 scholarship will be awarded to a 2023 high school graduate to pursue a degree in the field of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) at an accredited four-year college or university. Students should emphasize how they plan to pursue this interdisciplinary approach to their college studies. Requirements: 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale; an overall 3.0 average in mathematics and science courses. This award was created and funded by personal contributions from the Herrington family.

BRENTWOOD COMMUNITY FOUNDATION LIONEL THOMPSON MEMORIAL ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP

One $1,250 scholarship will be awarded to a student who is currently enrolled in an accredited university which offers an engineering program. Requirements: 2.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale. This scholarship was created to honor the memory of Lionel Thompson, husband of Mary E. Thompson and brother of Marilyn Rowe.

BRENTWOOD COMMUNITY FOUNDATION LIONEL THOMPSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR COMPUTER SCIENCE

One $1,250 scholarship will be awarded to a student to pursue a degree in an area related to information systems and/or computer science. Requirements: 2.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale. This scholarship was created to honor the memory of Lionel Thompson, husband of Mary E. Thompson and brother of Marilyn Rowe.

BRENTWOOD COMMUNITY FOUNDATION RODNEY AND MARION WILSON ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP

This $1,500 scholarship will be awarded to a student who is currently enrolled in an accredited university which offers an engineering program. Requirements: 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale. This award was created in 2007 by Rodney and Marion Wilson to encourage students to pursue studies in the field of engineering.
