My Dreams, My Choices provided an opportunity for children and caregivers to learn about social competencies, anti-bullying and cyber-safety, and two-way communication. Children and caregivers attended workshops separately so they could each learn from their developmental perspectives and share ideas with fellow peers and caregivers. The final workshop of the day brought families together for a vision-board and family collage of their dreams and choices, beginning the application of the skills learned throughout the day.
My Dreams, My Choices was a partnership between the Parris Foundation, Gallegos Elementary (Houston ISD), Neighborhood Centers – Ripley House, Family and Community Engagement (Houston ISD), and East Early College High School (Houston ISD). A special thanks to all the highly qualified counselors who donated their time to facilitate the workshops for this event. Congratulations to all the families who participated; you deserve all the credit for your dreams and your choices!
